Introduction of Angola

一、Geographic position:

   The Republic of Angola (Portuguese: República de Angola; Congolese: Repubilika ya Ngola), is an African country in the southwest of Africa, with Luanda as its capital city. It is bordered by Namibia on the south, the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the north and northeast, and Zambia on the southeast; its west coast is on the Atlantic Ocean. The exclave province of Cabinda has borders with the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.


二、Climate :

    Most areas of Angola belong to tropical savanna climate. It has wet season (October to March) and dry season (April to September). Angola located in the highland of Huambo which has an altitude of 1,500 m and mild climate. It has a mean annual precipitation of 1,450 mm and an average daily temperature of 24 to 29 ℃. Coastal areas have low temperature and precipitation. Areas in the south part of Luanda belong to dry climate, while the climate in Luanda is typical prairie climate.

  Within the territory, there are two seasons: dry season (from May to August) and wet season (from September to next April).  Months of most rainfalls occur from March to December in each year. The mean annual precipitation in the north is about 750 mm; on the south and northwest coast, the mean annual precipitation is below 500 mm; in the southern coastal zone, the mean annual precipitation is only about 300 mm.

四、Economy of Angola:

   Angola is a rich land in Africa. It has the potential to become the richest nation in Africa. The economy of the nation is based on agriculture and mineral products.

五、Transportation in Angola:


   Shipping is highly developed in Angola. The major harbors within the country include Mocamedes, Benguela, Luanda and Lobito. It is open to the large harbors in the world. The national railway is 2,764 in length stretching from the coast to the inland. There are five railways, of which the one starting from Lobito to Benguela and connecting to Katanga railway is the most important. This railway is also connected with the railways of Zambiaand Zimbabwe, reaches to Beiyla and Jorge Lorenzo Lourenco Marques harbors in Mozambique. Therefore, it plays an important role in the transportation of Angola. The road is 51,429 km in length, of which one third is high-class pavement and the rest is secondary and low-class pavement. Most of the roads are inconvenient for transportation in rainy days. There are about 680,000 automobiles nationwide. The air transportation is also developed. There are regular civilian flights between cities and regular return flights to neighboring countries. The air line between Angola and England and Portugal is also busy. There are 192 airports in the country.
